It is not (currently actively) being discussed, but there has been prior
discussion about the issues with bsdconfig(8) and pkg(8) integration in
the past off-list.

The issues affecting 10.1-RELEASE were not present in 9.3-RELEASE with
the 9.3-RELEASE tagged ports tree.
