This is NOT an answer to my question.
To be more precise: it WAS usual to find on the ftp mirrors the documents
RELNOTES.{HTM,TXT}, for immediate consumption without having to search the web
site. Furthermore the TXT documents could be read without having to use a
browser. I did not found any of these documents on the ftp mirrors.
I also note that the document "relnotes-detailed.html" have the date 2012-01-12
05:51:11Z and the files on the ftp site are at best dated from Jan 06, so I
doubt they contain an uptodate version of the release documentation.
I KNOW I am an old tart, but please try to understand the question before answering.
