Problem running 8.1R on KVM with AMD hosts

Do you have DDB+KDB options in your kernel?
Are you able to capture any output before panic happens?
Perhaps via serial console.

P.S. how many CPUs are configured on the systems?  Both total physical in hardware
and visible to FreeBSD.
