Another data point...
I didn't pay much attention to it, but without changing my apcupsd
configuration, it "just worked" after upgrading from RELENG_7 to
RELENG_8, just a couple of days ago.
I'm still running on a GENERIC kernel, but if I trim it down I'll keep
an eye out for problems.
