New BTX bootloader hangs my box

It's an AMD Thunderbird 1.2GHz (single core) on an AOpen motherboard.

the easiest fix is to replace /boot/loader with the version from a 7.0 CD
In the meantime (i am collecting data) can you tell us whether this
uses an Intel or AMD CPU, sine or multi core ?
