First, thank you for your great work!

and just one comment:

It would be a good decision IMHO.  Sometimes casual users are confused
that why device xxx is not detected during installation but detected
after install.  It would be better using the _same_ kernel for both
pre-installation time and post-installation (GENERIC) kernel.
