serial console device missing

I have a cable plugged into a serial port card in my Ultra10 FreeBSD 6
machine.
from dmesg:

uart1: CTS oflow

# ls -l /dev/cuaa*
ls: No match.
# ls -l /dev/ttys*
ls: No match.
# ls -l /dev/ttyS*
ls: No match.
# ls -l /dev/puc*
ls: No match.
