Given that your Xorg.0.log doesn't show a fatal error, you get some
pop-up window and the machine doesn't freeze completely this sounds
like a problem with the display manager or the window manager. Which
ones are you trying to use? Window managers known working on sparc64
are twm and windowmaker. No idea about what display managers work,
I've only started X via startx(1) so far.

That's unlikely to make a difference; the device drivers relevant
for the X server like creator(4), sunkbd(4), etc. are still in
sync between -CURRENT and 6.0. It also doesn't sound like you'd
have a problem with one of those.
