boot hung on ultra 10

This appears to be the same issue reported around the end of April
with the 5.4RCs - the machine stops at "jumping to kernel entry at
0xc0040000" with no further output to the console.  These boot
attempts have been with 5.4-bootonly and 5.4-disc1 CDs.  Whatever the
fix was it is either not on these images or didn't work for U10.  Help
please!
