Terminal Emulation

I know well that currently console emulation on
freebsd/sparc64 more or less doesn't exist, which I'm
pretty much OK with. Installing a headless system is
something I have to deal with pretty much on a daily
basis at work, and once you get SSH up and running it
matters even less.
However, since my freebsd/sparc64 machine is just a
home test/dev machine I have to admit that it'd be
nice occasionally to sit at the console and run X or
even just be able to run vi if something goes wrong
and I don't have my laptop at home to be able to
serial into it.
Anyway.. these are all old points, I'm sure, to this
group so I won't spend any more time with it. My
question really just boils down to this:
Does anyone know if there are any plans to make
console terminal emmulation work properly under
freebsd/sparc64? I am not a developer, but I can't
imagine it would be that difficult to borrow some code
from the other BSD's (opena and net) which both are
capable of running X locally and have full support for
the sun terminal type.
No worries if not, I'm just curious. I'll just stop
plugging in the head each time a release comes out if
someone in the dev team says, "don't look for it
before 6-release" or something similar.
Thanks in advance for any info.
