Only the new Intel Pentium Extreme Edition with dual-core supports HT... the
normal one does not support HT

The Pentium D 820 is not HT enabled. You get 2 cores, but they do not
support multiple hyperthreads per core. I'm typing this on a new D
820 system, and there are 2 cores, but that's it. See
http://www.intel.com/products/processor/pentium_D/index.htm for more
info.

As for overall performance, it's a bit of apples to oranges. My other
system (hyperthreaded) had a faster clock speed, but the 820 has a
larger cache and somewhat faster data paths. Overall, the dual core
feels faster, but it may be the overall system and not the processor.
