SMP and VMware 4

But it seems that the VM of VMware Workstation 4 doesn't support SMP.

Yes, VMware has a technology, VMware Virtual SMP, but VMware announces
that "VMware is currently testing Virtual SMP with selected
customers. Final product is expected in Q2 2003."  And it seems that
it is for server product, not for workstation.
