Personally I would believe a proper fix for this would be to add functionality to rc.d to be able to change terminals on a by terminal basis instead of adding an exclude to a variable meant to cover 'ALL' screens.

vidcontrol_flags_ttyv0="..."

I could have swore functionality like this had already existed "not as the name listed above" but I don't pay much attention to this area as its usually a configure once and forget or don't configure at all since there is no console (or spoon).
