day of the date in french

despite my research i am not able to get the day of the date in french on
freebsd, while on mac it works:
on mac os terminal:
[Desktop]:;  ( export lc_all=fr_FR.UTF-8 ; export LC_TIME=fr_FR.UTF-8 ; date
+\%A_\%Y\%m\%d )Vendredi_20211001
on freebsd:
[Desktop]:;  uname -aFreeBSD pyracmon.dhenin.fr 12.2-RELEASE-p7 ...[Desktop]:; 
(export lc_all = fr_FR.UTF-8; export LC_TIME = fr_FR.UTF-8; date + \% A _ \% Y
\% m \% d)Friday_20211001
