I run Debian unstable on a production machine, and it's far more stable
than any Windows box.
I wouldn't be using it to run my business otherwise.
Use the stable release for servers, and it's hard to go wrong.
In the apt.sources list enable non-free and contrib. and you will have
access to any firmware required for just about anything out there.

Very much looking forward to BSD experiences, however.
I remember an install of TrueOS when that was still happening, and it
was as solid as a rock.
The house felt as though it was anchored by it.
