General usage is covered in "man 1 vidcontrol", and
the individual savers are (more or less) documented
via source, for example the "Snake" saver is

	/usr/src/sys/dev/syscons/snake/snake_saver.c

with

	/usr/src/sys/dev/syscons/ being the root 

being the root directory for the screen savers.

No. They only work with sc; vt does not support the
screensavers. Details for comparing sc to vt here:

If you switch to sc (only problem: no UTF-8, but all
the other encodings and fonts work), the screen savers
will be available.
