Strange outcome: different outcomes from portmaster and pkg upgrade

Are your ports tree and pkg source out of sync?
WHich repository do you use for pkg (quarterly / latest)?
How do you obtain a current ports tree (svn / portsnap)?
Maybe there is still some cached database fragment?
