When I was in the Marines, I had a 1st Sargent that liked to shout at
the recruits, "SUCK IT UP, BUTTER CUP". He also had a lot of other
colorful sayings, none of which are appropriate for this forum.

I have always found this quote apropos to those who are stuck in the
past.

"Things don't go on forever, and the quicker you accept that change is
inevitable, the happier you're gonna be."
