So let's use EBCDIC since  it is older and more "standard" then this new
fangled thing known as ASCII (UniCode is still an unproven experiment!)

Oddly people usually say inline is the better way to preserve context (I
actually agree).

And for the very same reason you (the list in general not "you" personally)
shouldn't crap all over people who are unaware of this yet almost every
time some new user does top post they get a mild scolding at best (and more
often a nasty note).
