FreeBSD and high availability services

freebsd-questions:

I have a FreeBSD server with a jail providing Samba file sharing
services for my SOHO LAN:

2020-06-30 18:53:21 toor at samba ~
# freebsd-version
12.1-RELEASE-p5

2020-06-30 18:53:28 toor at samba ~
# uname -a
FreeBSD samba.tracy.holgerdanske.com 12.1-RELEASE-p5 FreeBSD
12.1-RELEASE-p5 GENERIC amd64

2020-06-30 19:19:16 toor at samba ~
# pkg info -xI samba
samba410-4.10.13 Free SMB/CIFS and AD/DC server and client
for Unix

I have another jail that provides CVS services:

2020-06-30 19:18:48 toor at cvs ~
# pkg info -xI cvs
cvs-1.20120905_6 Version control system

The underlying filesystems are ZFS.

I have a second server available and am curious about implementing
high-availability (HA) for Samba and CVS services. (I will experiment
with virtual machines first.)

STFW I see:

https://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/disks-hast.html

https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/CTDB_and_Clustered_Samba

https://www.ixsystems.com/community/threads/high-availability-freenas-setup.15867/

https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/hast-and-zfs-with-carp-failover.29639/

Does anyone have any experiences or suggestions with HA services on FreeBSD?

David
