Long Term support versions?

IIUC, The current release engineering process was seen to be the best compromise given the level of resources available. Assuming nothing has changed, it might be wishful thinking hoping for a Linux-like LTS (which I also have sometimes wished for).

On the other hand, it might be more pragmatic to take a CI approach and learn how to live with the release process. Is that possible?
