ah! I had presumed you had meant a UFS2 filesystem, since you had not
specified it.

Also, fsck.ext3 does not exist on a plain freebsd system. It appears to
be part of linux emulation:

$ locate fsck.ext3 |less
/compat/linux/usr/sbin/fsck.ext3
/compat/linux/usr/share/man/man8/fsck.ext3.8.gz
