freebsd or linux

Linux is to get something done quick for proof-of-concepts and code that must be public, BSD is to make things that last and code that can remain hidden (but preferably not).   ;-)

the first difference is that Linux is a kernel not an os while FreeBSD is a
kernel + its utilities. and the type of the license is a key difference
FreeBSD is under the BSD License and Linux is under the GPL. they both are
open source which means that everyone can contribute to te projects but the
management style differs between both of them.
