why don't you place the disk in an USB case, connect it to the iMac and
make the installation there. Crucial for the start of FreeBSD will be
rc.conf and fstat both in /etc. You can edit them then on the iMac. You
also should be able to test the installation at the iMac. Again. It is
most likely that these two files will be a bit different on those
machines.
