Project Maintenance Doubt

Hi, I'm doing a research for my college and one of the topics involves free software development and institutions that deal with these projects, the main topic of my research is on the management of free code projects, I did not find on the site something about talking about how projects are managed, can you tell me what methodology you use to manage your projects? Since the creation of them until the maintenance after creation?
