I'm building around ~2000 ports of HEAD as a local repo to be installed
on my farm of laptops and netbooks (~8 devices).

It's just the right tool for this and easy to manage. Once setup, just
forget it. Only my family is complaining about the noise of my poudriere
oven, a Dell PowerEdge R210, which was decommissioned by my company and
now "rack mounted" below the table of my desk at home :-)
