I hope we can at least agree on one thing--that however many people
take one side or the other (though I'm not really sure how many
"sides" there are here), this entire conversation is fairly pointless
as nothing is going to change.

We are not the "deciders". Project decisions get made behind walled
gardens by an anointed few offline, or on lists that a select group
have access to, and no one on the outside has any insight into, or say
in the process. Unless maybe you donate lots of money.
