Hello,
The books recommended are a great read for anyone wanting to learn FreeBSD. Unfortunately there is only so much to be learned from a book. If you truly want to learn you need to jump in and start using it.
https://www.freebsd.org/doc/handbook/ + man pages is how you will truly learn the system. When running into an issue, try searching for a solution. Others most likely also ran into the same issue. If all else fails IRC, mailing list and/or the forums surely will set you in the right direction.
I wish you the best of luck!Ricky
