aspell Error: No word lists can be found for the language "en_US"

I'm having trouble using aspell on English text:

$ pkg info -xo aspell
aspell-0.60.6.1_5              textproc/aspell

$ aspell -c lee-talk 
Error: No word lists can be found for the language "en_US".

Please advise
