[OT] Light frequency or wavelength to (eg RGB) colour

Hi community,

does anyone know of a method - preferably a formula - for converting 
known frequencies (or complementarily, their wavelengths) within the 
visible spectrum to its colour rendition in RGB, CMYK or whatever?
