Root Mount Error after upgrade to 8.4-RELEASE from 8.3-RELEASE

Hi Folks,

I am struggling with a freebsd-update issue and could use some advice.
 After successfully installing the updates  a reboot fails to mount the
root file system with the above error.
I have attached a link to a series of screen shots with some commentary

Has anyone seen similar?
