Well, try

sysctl hw.snd.default_unit=0

then try

and

sysctl hw.snd.default_unit=1

and try

You'll have to restart whatever is actually doing sound, as it doesn't
cut over the sound to anotehr device. It just makes the default device
at the time the sound device is opened change.
