 Fresh installation of what? Please provide the output of  'uname -a'  so
we don't have to guess which version of FreeBSD you are running and on
which platform.

Also it would be good to know the hardware manufacturer and model of your
system. I have used the Marvell Yukon 88E8058 Gigabit Ethernet on
FreeBSD-9.x, FreeBSD-10.0, and FreeBSD-11.0-CURRENT all amd64 without any
problems.

Perhaps there are BIOS upgrades available for your motherboard and/or
Marvell Yukon that you can apply?
