Well, I mean I restarted cupsd after each installation/recompilation, of course. But I
didn't corrupt the process of building by interrupting cupsd anyway - sorry, a slight
misunderstanding. I made it a habit to restart the daemon after changes.

When doing a rmconfig in that specific port's folder, it is not set anymore with the most
recent ports tree defaults (for me).

I have no problem building hplip with the new cups 1.7.1
In my case, I set FORCE_PKG_REGISTER=yes in /etc/make.conf by default.

I have no experiences with jails and barely time to setup a jail. I will see what I can
do, but I'm on a tight schedule, even due to the printing issues.
