I have built the world and the kernel, and intall the kernel as to the handbook. now I reboot into single user mode and try to call "mergemaster -p", I got this:
***Creating the temporary root environment in /var/tmp/temproot
**/var/temp/temproot ready for use
***Creating and populating directory structure in /var/tmp/temproot
install:root:Invalid argument
***FATAL ERROR: Cannot copy files to the temproot environment
The first time I call "mergemaster -p" did not show up this error, but I did not really understand how to select in the mergemaster propgram, so I think I might have messed the things up and done some fatal operation in the mergemaster program. Now when I boot normally(not single user mode), the root user is just gone and I cannot login in anymore. Can anybody there help me?
Best regards
zzm
