Nasty reference loop in login.conf

If remember correctly, accessing single user mode here
requires root password, but will it use login.conf?

Killing init is not solution (I think I lack privileges as 
user anyway, remember I can't su account) because
I'm running KMS patches and will not see anything 
(lacking visible system console output).
