locale settings and core dump LyX

Hi,

When I start LyX I'm getting an error:

...
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::runtime_error'
   what():  locale::facet::_S_create_c_locale name not valid
Abort (core dumped)
...

This seems to have something to do with my locale settings:

...
LANG=en_US.UTF-8
LC_CTYPE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_TIME="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_MONETARY="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_MESSAGES="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_ALL=
...

When I change the locale setting to C, lyx runs fine, but I want to keep
my locale at UTF-8.

So how can I keep UTF-8 and keep using LyX?

Thanks in advance,
Marco
