I had the same problem. Sound is being sent to /dev/dsp0 by default,
which is the NV card. Try setting hw.snd.default_unit with sysctl.
Probably "sysctl hw.snd.default_unit=4" would work, from what I see, you
should hear sound if you cat a file to /dev/dsp4.
