 1. cd /usr/ports/x11/gnome2, make install clean
 2. Add 'gnome_enable="YES"' to rc.conf

KDE:
 1. cd /usr/ports/x11/kde4, make install clean
 2. [none listed]

Q: Does KDE installation have a "Step 2"?
