activate apache mod_rewrite

That makes sense, because all the websites that I could find were 4 to 6 years 
old.

Thanks for the response.
The loadmodule line is  already there. 
Is there anything in the httpd-vhosts.conf or anywhere else needed to activate 
rewrites?
