Depends entirely on whether the speaker is wired into the sound system.
If so, mixer will show a speaker device, eg on my 10y.o. Armada 1500c:

% mixer
Mixer vol is currently set to 80:80
Mixer synth is currently set to 0:0
Mixer pcm is currently set to 92:92
Mixer speaker is currently set to 51:51
Mixer line is currently set to 0:0
Mixer mic is currently set to 0:0
Mixer cd is currently set to 0:0
Mixer line1 is currently set to 0:0
Recording source: mic

cheers, Ian
