Acer Aspire 4730Z laptop

The procedure to install xorg suggested in Sec 5 of the Handbook does not work for my Acer Aspire 4730Z laptop running 7.0 amd64 GENERIC.
I get "no screen available" with the vesa driver and a very low resolution X with the vga driver.  Any suggestions for a xorg.conf file that will work.  It uses the Intel 4 express chip.

Any help appreciated.
