What ELSE do I need to add to make.conf to avoid X ?

Just trying to install rrdtool on a server.
Do not want X. Do not want X11. Do not want Xorg.
So I did the "right" thing and added this to /etc/make.conf:
WITHOUT_X11=yes
WITHOUT_X=yes
WITH_X=NO
ENABLE_GUI=NO
and then 'make install' in the rrdtool directory. The problem is, eventually I saw this:
===> Installing for pango-1.14.7
===> pango-1.14.7 depends on file: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF/luximb.ttf - not found
===> Verifying install for /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF/luximb.ttf in /usr/ports/x11-fonts/xorg-fonts-truetype
===> Vulnerability check disabled, database not found
===> Extracting for xorg-fonts-truetype-6.9.0
=> MD5 Checksum mismatch for xorg/X11R6.9.0-src1.tar.gz.
=> SHA256 Checksum mismatch for xorg/X11R6.9.0-src1.tar.gz.
===> Refetch for 1 more times files: xorg/X11R6.9.0-src1.tar.gz xorg/X11R6.9.0-src1.tar.gz
===> Vulnerability check disabled, database not found
=> X11R6.9.0-src1.tar.gz doesn't seem to exist in /usr/ports/distfiles/xorg.
=> Attempting to fetch from ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/x11/x.org/pub/X11R6.9.0/src/.
X11R6.9.0-src1.tar.gz 3% of 31 MB 8188 Bps 01h05m^C
fetch: transfer interrupted
Oops. Looks like I was going to get X11 anyway.
So, what other options do I need to add to make.conf in order to install a simple stats/database tool without hundreds and hundreds of MB of x11 ?
Thanks.
