loopback won't enable automatically

Yes, that is how I fixed the problem, but I don't know why the problem 
occurred in the first place, since in /etc/default/rc.conf I have:

network_interfaces="auto"

Setting network_interfaces="lo0 vr0" in /etc/rc.conf fixed the problem
