Partition to be shared over OSes

Yes.   Anyway, FreeBSD and MS-Win can read/write Fat32.  I presume Lunix can
too.  In FreeBSD, you just need to mount as an MSDOS type file system.

By the way, in FreeBSD, the term is "slice" for what MS calls 
a Primary Partion.
