qmail virtual domain and alias

Since I am not getting a response from the qmail list - well there are a 
bunch of knowledgeable members here.  So...

okay i collect mail for two domains with overlapping aliases.  the
acutal host name of the server is globs.domain.com

so there is
globs at globs.domain.com
and
globs at blobs.domain.com

there is a

.qmail-globs file working fine for mail arriving at globs at globs.domain.com

but then I placed the virtualdomains the line:

globs at blobs.domain.com:blobs

and then I created an alias file
.qmail-blobs-globs

but it does not work and the sender receives a bounce claiming user
blobs-globs at blobs.domain.com not found.

what can I do about this?
