Upgraded Samba and Can't Connect with Win XP

i had a similar problem recently. i also had a nondesktop (server) system
that received the same upgrade, and had no troubles at all.
xorg-7.2 (ie, and related changes) turned out to be my culprit, and it was
solved by adding this to /etc/rc.conf:
local_startup="/usr/local/etc/rc.d"
