There's a PR open for this with a working patch:
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=ports/108322
Download it and apply it in the ports/sysutils/xfce4-battery-plugin
directory then rebuild the port. It fixed the problem for me. I'm sure it
will be committed shortly.
