devfs rule: ioctl DEVFSIO_RADD: Input/output error

Hi,

	Trying to create a node in dev that I need in 5.3-RELEASE-p10.
I tried to do :

		devfs -m /dev rule add path rdptr0 major 88

	But I get:

devfs rule: ioctl DEVFSIO_RADD: Input/output error


	What part of this do I have wrong?
