What does /etc/rc.conf show for lo0 related things? (And just to check
your defaults as well...)
egrep lo0 /etc/rc.conf /etc/defaults/*
Mine shows:
/etc/defaults/rc.conf:ifconfig_lo0="inet 127.0.0.1" # default
loopback device configuration.
